inglourious basterds

basterds 5.pngi love tarantino work. we watched “inglorious basterds”, it’s great, a little bit long… but the ending makes it worth it🔥
tarantino movies always are great and he developed his own unique style. so often you can see how people fail to combine comedy and violence. either it comes out as comedy that you can’t take seriously or it comes out as bad puns and jokes in the wrong place and time. but in the “inglorious basterds” it was perfect balance.

however this is not my favourite tarantino movie. which one is yours?

groundhog day

vlcsnap-2018-02-05-10h13m18s348yesterday me and reinard had the laziest day, most productive thing we did was watch “groundhog day”, can you believe my boyfriend have never seen it before?

❄️this movie is classic and again the 90s movies have this special feel to them. i wonder what would i do if something like this would happen to me and i get a little jealous, imagine all that time, you can learn so many things, try so much. but to be honest, i would probably fall into my dark side of depression, never leave the house, eat all day and watch all of the available movies.

today is new day and will try my best to be productive(i struggle with that often)! i will start with my breakfast oatmeal and herbal tea☕️

international strawfree day

i don’t put straws in drinks when i work in bar any day, but just the reminder to me and others to refuse the straw in advance when you order.

like a week ago, i went with my friend to this super nice vegan cafe and ordered a juice. when they where bringing it to the table i saw a straw, i felt so horrible for a second, but it was a metal straw! i felt such a relief, so weird and calming.

🌏in my opinion straws are unnecessary in most cases. so if you do really love/need straws remember there are other choices that plastic straw. metal. bamboo. glass. wood.

your name

your name

💫just now, me and reinard watched “your name”, both in tears. beautiful anime.
i love nice animes, i have seen most studio ghibli works and i am always on a lookout for more heartwarming animes. this one was truly wonderful. strange love story💕

by the way, i don’t think i did that bad today on radio, but i will have to judge that when i can listen to it online. also we played a game on air, they asked random eco questions and i won! i got some fancy, natural, latvian soap and shampoo. i will get back to you with review when i try it out.

ps. any suggestion for sincere animes?🌸

worried

right now i’m cutting some fabrics i had at home and making a lot of drawstring bags, for an awesome event that will happen next sunday. but i will write about that when it comes closer.

🎙i’m super worried because tomorrow i’m going on radio program “zaļā ceturdiena” to talk about straws, since the international strawfree day is coming up. but i’m not big on public speaking, although i’m really extrovert and talkative most times. but i get such stage fright and dry mouth. maybe anyone have tips to calm down? 🙈

anyway, i will get back to cutting  and watching cartoons, lets worry tomorrow. wish me luck!

alien thrift

i really love thrift shopping! but i sometimes buy unneeded crap.
this is one of the days…but you must admit , this amazing alien haul👽
this summer me and boyfriend(reinard, by the way) started collecting dvds from thrift and charity stores.

so we found this awesome encyclopedia and dvd(we are saving it for the higher times) at my favourite charity  store “otrā elpa“(actually i think it’s the only charity shop in riga and it’s super nice!). we often also donate to them our unneeded stuff and they sort all the donations, some they put out in their store to sell and donate the money for all kind of projects. some of the donated stuff they donate further to people in need, animal shelters and others. really wonderful concept and i’m so happy we have something like this in latvia💜

🌌anyway don’t buy new, these days you can buy pretty much anything second hand. buy used, use it till its end, fix it, use it a little more, recycle and buy used again.

vegan pumpkin pancakes

✨we got a huge pumpkin from a friend, now we have to think of tasty ways to eat it.
first night was pumpkin cream soup, leave a comment if you are interested of our recipe. tonight we made

vegan pumpkin pancakes –

  • 1 potatoe
  • twice as much pumpkin
  • wisp of flour
  • oil for frying

and these things i just threw in, because i felt like it, so it’s optional –

  • your desired spices, i added salt, chili and black pepper
  • half of bell pepper
  • half an onion
  • little bit of quinoa

grate potato and pumpkin.
slice into little pieces bell pepper and onion.
mix all ingredients together and fry on a pan.

i love nasty, greasy foods, so i make these kind of veggie pancakes/patties often. i love how you can put in random stuff that you have at home and every time you get something new🌿

ps. i got a new tattoo today, i’m super happy about it!

cutting waste working as a bartender

one of my jobs is working at bar as a bartender🍺
sometimes it’s hard to be eco friendly at work if your job is not on the same page.

these are some things that i do, to go home with clearer conscience –

  • recycle glass, the only recycling bin we have in the yard
  • never put straws in the drinks
  • crush all metal cans
  • compress plastic bottles and tetra packs
  • pour beer in to the same glass, if the client doesn’t mind
  • use both sides of paper, also i cut up once used paper into little squares and put them on top the pile of new note papers
  • take home bio waste, if i have a container with me, i will fill it up during my shift with lime and lemon slices and other biodegradable waste, to put in my compost🍋

i usually take morning shifts, because for me it’s therapeutic, there is not a lot of people and i can do my thing, like cut paper into squares(the scraps will go to my tile stove), recycle, clean, experiment with the music and make salad in the pint glass.

let me know if you have any other ideas about cutting waste at the bar..?

plastic free 52 challenge, join!

IMG_1504.JPGi’m not into this new year celebration and stuff, for me it seems silly celebrate random time and see how people make resolutions in the new year spirit and then don’t keep them. but i’m not here to party poop, you do you.

i wanted to share that  i joined “plastic free 52” challenge 🙌🏽 to decrease plastic in my life even more. i’ve been known to not be the best at sticking to challenges, but this matters to me, so i hope for the best. join too, to push your self away from plastic. but if you don’t feel like it, you can follow my progress on here anyway.

i wish strength to everyone who commits to something this new year✨

ps, that’s my boyfriend, we have tiny ass apartment, he is in our kitchen slash bathroom.

chocolat

vlcsnap-2017-12-29-06h34m16s108tonight felt cozy and romantic.
we watched “chocolat”, with hot cups of vegan coco, made from oat milk(i love oat milk) and dark cocoa powder.☕️
it is so damn aesthetically satisfying. so many beautiful actors. excellent fashion, interior un scene design.

ps. am i the only one who is inspired to open chocolate store every time after watching this movie?❤️
